The York County Genealogical and Historical Society (YCGHS) was founded in 1927 and is a member of the Confederation of South Carolina Local Historical Societies. We are a non-profit organization that encourages genealogical and historical research. We also strive to create an interest in the rich past of the people and events that shaped York County and the surrounding area. The YCGHS publishes The Quarterly, a magazine which features articles on local genealogy and history. If you would like to submit an article for The Quarterly, please contact Elizabeth Oswald-Sease, the editor, at oswalde@winthrop.edu. We have program meetings that feature local speakers, visits to local points of interest, or discussions of topics involving local history and/or genealogy. Please find the current programs listed elsewhere on the website. We invite residents of York County, as well as those who live elsewhere, to join the YCGHS. Membership information is listed elsewhere on the website. The membership years runs from May 1 through April 30. |
